Record scene

In Burts speed record attempt scene at Bonneville, the director uses a variety of cinematography and sound techniques to show the importance of the scene in relation to his goal. When Burt is preparing for his run, a lot of different camera angles and sound techniques were use to show the drama of the scene. Burts slow pace of preparing himself for his dream annoys everyone who are just anxious to get him going. Another thing to focus on in this scene, is Burts fingernails and how dirty they are. This small detail added a lot to the scene because it shows how much of a d.i.y person Burt is and also shows how hard he has worked to get where he is. Another example of Burt getting to where he is with much less help and support is when the other competitors start their runs with a push car, meanwhile Burt only gets people to help him. Some good examples of effective camera angles were the ones that swapped to the crowd of everyone supporting Burt and the quick flashes of the officials faces as he breaks the record, plus the close ups which add a sense of instability and danger create tension within the viewers and make the viewers feel like they are there on the bike with him. In my opinion, the directors use of these techniques were quite good except for a couple simple mistakes that could have been removed but also add to the scene themselves. The song choices were excellent and really made the viewers sit on the edge of their seats. In conclusion, this scene was produced really well. The song choices and camera angles were all used effectively, creating a well ended story for Burts dream and the obstacles he faced on the way to completing it.
